Dexter's voice came fast over the com, distracted. “I’m a little busy here, Mal.”
Mallory barely waited for him to finish. “What the hell are you doing? Get that rig pulled over and hoof it outta there! They’ve got two heli’s on your tail, they’re gonna take control of your truck any second now!”
“Got it under control, Mal. Just make sure you’re on time.”
“We’re thinking of aborting, Dex. You’re jeopardizing the entire mission right now.”
“No. Don’t abort. I’m Fine.”
Mal could almost hear his smile through the radio. He’s enjoying this. The lunatic is enjoying this. He’s probably doing that thing, the thing he does under pressure.
“Are you doing that thing, Dex?” she asked.
A pause. “Yes.”
She let her breath out, like a sigh. “Well, how’s it going for you?”
“Better than average.”

"The Last Iteration was the first can't-put-down novel I've read in years - a great
sci-fi and time-travel story. Mr. Hart plants intricate time travel threads partnered
well with a back-to-the-simple-life theme (no guns, but the hero has a bad-ass sword).
A quite pleasurable read leaving me turning the pages late into the night, only to
have Dexter enter my thoughts during the day, egging me on for another chapter. I
very much look forward to further novels in the series." -- By Duke01

"This was an absorbing read from page one through the final page. The characters are still with me and I can't wait for the 2nd book! I usually don't read sci-fi, but I am glad I picked this up. Choose this one for plot twists and great character development." -- By Shelly

For the record: I’m not disputing that strong leadership and great leaders make a difference. Nor would I claim leadership and a strong middle can succeed in the absence of brilliant, hard-working, creative individual contributors. But, regardless of the detractors and their claims, it is the middle that will make or break a company. Why?
